Founded in 1999 by Pierre Hardy, the Parisian shoe brand first specialised for the ladies. Three years later, their first collections of bags and shoes for men was born. The brand was quickly met with a resounding success. Thus, Pierre Hardy opened his first shop in 2003 in the Royal Palace neighbourhood of Paris. In 2009, the opening of a second temple of the shoe followed, a rive gauche boutique located at Place du Palais Bourbon. Over time, Pierre Hardy has always confirmed his taste for graphic, clean, coloured structures either through his shoes or bags. Consecration to the creator, in November 2009, the Pierre Hardy brand became a member of the Comité Colbert. A true emblem of French luxury, the brand set up in New York's West Village with its first flagship store.
During his studies, Pierre Hardy developed his artistic culture and its relation to the body between the practice of dance and his taste for drawing. A dance fan, Pierre Hardy said he quickly developed a passion for the shoe: "My experience has taught me how to add an accessory that will force the body to transform into the proper sense." Having made his debut at Dior as a stylist for the women's collection shoes, he garnered experience and multiplies the arts by becoming an illustrator for Vogue and Vanity Fair. In 1990 he was appointed creative director at Hermes for Women's and Men’s shoes. From 2001 to 2012, along with the management of his own label, Pierre Hardy has worked under the thumb of Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, giving new life to footwear lines. The work of Pierre Hardy has been rewarded with numerous awards including "Designer of the Year 2006", awarded by the International Footwear News magazine, as well as "Best Shoes Design 2006" by Wallpaper magazine. In 2012, Pierre Hardy was made Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
