Founded in 2007 in London, the Maria Francesca Pepe brand is gradually becoming bigger and bigger in the microcosm of fashion. Founder of the avant-garde jewellery brand, the eponymous designer is enjoyed amongst celebrities such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Rita Ora and Miranda Kerr to name a few. Offering jewellery handcrafted in Italy, MFP creates pieces that combine geometry, clean lines and fine design with symbols and other societal references. The materials are always reinterpreted in a pop aesthetic. Maria Francesca Pepe manages to gradually introduce the concept of "Jewellery-to-Wear" in the small fashion world that is jewellery. The jewels are worn like clothes and are no longer relegated to a single line of decorative accessories. With her creations, Maria Francesca Pepe breaks the conventional hierarchical concept through which the choice of clothing precedes before that of the accessory. From this perspective, the border between them is more subtle. Thus, jewellery becomes part of an outfit rather than the finishing touch. For her, her designs have to be meaningful both for her and for the person wearing them.
After studying modern literature, Maria Francesca Pepe began studying fashion design at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Four years later, the designer was London bound to finish her studies at the prestigious Central Saint Martins. The designer began freelancing with several Italian houses and assisted Jens Laugesen and Vivienne Westwood. Soon after, she decided to dedicate herself fully to accessories, something she planned for some time, even through her own collections of ready-to-wear. She wanted to shake up established rules by placing the accessory at the heart of attention and created an ongoing dialogue between the garment and the jewel. She launched her own brand in 2007 in London, the city of her heart. The reviews are of nothing but praise: nominated at the British Fashion Awards and Award-winning Fashion East, New Gen Sponsorship and the Vogue Talents Award, Maria Francesca Pepe continues to grow. She has collaborated with emerging designers such as Ter Bantine, Roksanda Ilinic, Emilio de la Morena and Ana Sekularac.
