About the Brand

The origins of the Church family date back to 1675, when Stone Church, the great-grandfather of the founder of the company, was born in Northampton, a city known for its thriving leather industry and footwear. He then initiated a skill that was be passed from generation to generation. May 1st 1873, in a studio in Northampton, Thomas Church, his wife and his two sons, Alfred and William, founded a small factory, marking the official birth of the Church's shoes. At this time, the confection was still performed in the homes of the artisans. These early decades saw the company growth: the number of orders increased, driven by the boom of the early days of the Victorian era and the development of industrialization. In 1921, Church's opened its first shop in London and presented the first woman's shoe for the brand. During World War II, Church's focused on the production of shoes for the armed forces. In 1999, with the support of family, Church's was bought by the Prada Group. This new turn is accompanied by a continuing commitment to craftsmanship and a 100% British identity of the brand. The offer is growing with the launch of contemporary and seasonal patterns, in addition to the traditional collection. The beginning of the century saw the opening of Church's shops in capitals around the world.

For the Spring-Summer 2016 collection, Church's presents new reinvented classics. Using metallic and mirror effects, colours, gold and silver, the legendary styles are interpreted with modernity. While keeping its intrinsic classicism, the brand meets the trend with its British DNA. Leather is studded or perforated, tassels come to dress with femininity while subtlety. Brogues, loafers, sandals ... the silhouettes play with masculine and feminine lines with the excellent expertise of the brand.
