About the Brand

The Paloma Barcelo story started in 1960, when Manolo Barceló launched his footwear label, specialising in espadrille sandals with a uniquely Spanish twist. A master in handmade rope making and weaving, Manolo obsessively pursued perfection in the production of espadrilles for the most important and fashionable Maisons. Now under the creative reign of son Manuel, who decided to set up his own brand in 2002 and so became Paloma Barcelò, named after his daughter. A long history of passion and dedication has led to the birth of a brand, which is synonymous with quality and style in Spain and abroad. Every Paloma Barceló wedge is an incredible piece of art. High quality is ensured by over a hundred working phases, the attention combined strong manual components with the design of the models. Handcraft and true passion come from this Traditional and Innovative production and the label continues to use traditional materials and craftsmanship to create its hot-hued collections. Spring-Summer 2017 Collection

The SS/16 collection embodies the spirit of revised Spanish tradition. Feminine materials like lace and macrame become the details of extremely high plateaus, harmoniously alternated by hand painted decorations. Style for Paloma Barcelo is light, contemporary and fresh. Freedom of expression takes the stage throughout the whole collection with the focus being on the craftsmanship, unusual combinations and unexpected visual effects. An unexpected combination of red, black, cobalt blue, forest green and sandy nudes paired with suede, leather, wood, cord and natural raffia feature throughout. Hints of graphics and abstract geometric lines adorn the wooden wedges, bold yet delicate designs give the collection a contemporary style. Stylised flowers, geometric designs and baroque decorations are telling of an unknown world of fairytales in which Manuel Barcelo leads his muses.
