Collection Alexander McQueen

When Alexander McQueen's eponymous brand launched in 1992, it was an immediate hit. The British designer had only just graduated from Central Saint Martin’s School but his rebellious Baroque-Gothic influences meant that he quickly made a name for himself on the fashion scene. In 2001, less than ten years after the creation of his brand and backed by the Kering group, Alexander McQueen decided to expand his business by launching a menswear line, and a perfume... On 11 February 2010, Lee Alexander McQueen took his own life, leaving his brand adrift and the fashion world in mourning.

Sarah Burton, artistic director at the Alexander McQueen studios, quickly took the helm, ensuring that McQueen's genius lived on and the iconic brand continued to shine. Today, Alexander McQueen is one of the most important names in fashion - both in the world of Haute-Couture and in luxury accessories. The brand has a remarkable ability to combine minimalism with meticulous detailing. Take their oversized trainers, for example, which combine all the simplicity of the classic white sneaker with the bold and structured design of their chunky oversized soles. Or there’s the monochrome bags and clutches, whose understated look is turned on its head using skull-shaped clasps, sometimes set with stones, sometimes ring-shaped. The same deceptive simplicity can also be found on their glasses, where it’s the attention to detail that makes all the difference. And what a difference it is!
