With its Fall/Winter 2017-18 line, the Sergio Rossi shoe brand is going back to its roots as started last season with the sr1 collection, which revisits the Italian label’s 90's codes and emphasizes the shoemaker’s expertise and legacy. The collection’s signature? A leather strip and a small silver plate with the House’s logo added on the front of each shoe. While the Spring/Summer 2017 line focused on clogs and mules, this winter, make way for pointy toe pumps that pay tribute to the 90s models. The color palette and patterns are inspired by interior design where colored resin and marble form a geometric pattern.
Sergio Rossi, son of a shoemaker who passed on his artisanal methods, founded his first factory in San Mauri Pascoli in 1966. Two years later, the brand released its first shoes. The label really took off in the 70s, when the designer began to collaborate with major fashion houses such as Versace. Sergio Rossi has become one of the most renowned Italian shoe brands.
Since its founding, the label has had several creative directors succeeding Sergio Rossi. The latest designer, Angelo Ruggeri had joined the House in 2013 before leaving three years later, in May 2016. Since then, the shoe brand has not appointed him a successor, choosing to focus on their heritage with the sr1 collection, a line reediting the House’s most iconic designs.
