Wanda Nylon

For this Fall/Winter 2017-18 season, as usual, Johanna Senyk has imagined a collection with uninhibited femininity. Understand feminine but functional pieces. Anything but a tomboy, the designer of the Wanda Nylon brand combines bright colors, eclectic materials and relaxed cuts: loose jeans, unevenly punctured dresses and thigh-level-fringe skirts. Glitter, lamé and ultra-feminine prints are also part of this both cool and original collection.

The Wanda Nylon brand was created in 2012 by Johanna Senyk, who imagined her first plastic trench coat after spending many hours in the rain on her scooter. Her idea? Launch a rainwear collection, an essential accessory, like the vital denim jacket. Passionate about new fabrics and influenced by a Helmut Newton photo showing a transparent trench coat, she had the idea to create a PVC design. With her associate Peter Hornstein, she developed a cold- and time-resistant waterproof but breathable fabric. In 2015, then working on her own, the designer launched her first women’s ready-to-wear collection.

When she arrived in Paris at the age of 18, Johanna Senyk first aimed to become a stylist. After a few experiences at magazines "Crash" and "The Face", she worked on the styling of a Jamiroquaï music video and on some costume-making. One day she met with Anthony Vaccarello at the Hyères Festival and with Casting Director Maida Grégori-Boïna. She then began a casting career and worked for Givenchy (with Alexander McQueen), JW Anderson and The Row. In 2012, the fashion designer founded the Wanda Nylon brand with Peter Hornstein. In 2016, then working on her own, she received the Andam Prize.
