The Gerard Darel story began in 1971, when Gerard and Danièle Darel founded the brand. From its first collections, the label adopted the codes that created its identity: soft hues, sober and chic cuts... the essence of a timelessly elegant and modern style. In 1996, the label acquired Jacky Kennedy's famous black pearl necklace at an auction at Sotheby's New York. They soon offered a reissue of the necklace, the "Jackie Necklace", which became one of the brands must-haves. In 2003, the brand launched the 24 heures handbag, another hit. Originally created in leather, this legendary bag was declined in raffia, in cotton and in wool, and edited in different formats and in a multitude of colors. Seven years later, the brand honored another famous woman’s style, Marylin Monroe, by re-editing the sweater the American actress wore in the movie "Let's Make Love".
We love them, we collect them every season, and no matter what, we bond with them. Fetish objects, faithful companions as well as confidants, accessories that say a lot about us and identify a silhouette, handbags are a privileged stylistic exercise for Gerard Darel. The House’s best-sellers along the brand’s saga reaffirm this taste for detail and a certain sense of aesthetics combined with functionality based on women’s everyday lives. Imagined as a real ready-to-wear collection, Gerard Darel leather goods cover a large spectrum of desires and styles, revisiting vintage lines to give them a modern patina.
