For their second (and last) Paris show, Lazzaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough chose to make their muse a cross-border adventurer. It all starts with California and its 70's hippies: macramés, fringes and even tie and dye. As the young traveler gets closer to Proenza Schouler’s New York, her style becomes more urban, closer to the designers’ usual creations. One and only.


The Proenza Schouler brand was founded in 2002 by the artistic duo of designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. After meeting at the Parson's School of Design, they decided to join forces to present a thesis. This first collection caught the eye of the department store Barney’s who bought all pieces. The designers then renamed their label Proenza Schouler, a combination of their mothers’ maiden names. The New York fashion brand is renowned for its ability to mix artisanal elements and urban comfort. This explosive cocktail is also reflected in accessories. In 2008, the brand launched its first handbag: PS1. Practical and chic but relaxed, this pouch is still one of the best-sellers of the label.


One of them is from Miami; the other spent his childhood travelling, before moving to San Francisco. When Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough met shortly before starting Parson's School of Design, they had one thing in common: they were not New Yorkers. As they took several courses together, they soon decided to work as a duo, including on the design of their final collection. A bold but rewarding decision since the clothing line launched their professional collaboration by becoming the first collection of the Proenza Schouler brand.
