For the Fall/Winter 2017-18 season, Anya Hindmarch is proposing a trip to the Far North. Introducing the cold season with a romantic touch, the British designer added some Scandinavian folklore to her creations while bringing her own modern interpretation to some leatherwork craft techniques. She also lived up to her playful and creative luxury handbag designer reputation. Anya Hindmarch founded her eponymous brand in 1987. At that time, the designer returned from Florence, where she discovered her passion for crafts. With the idea of creating a very simple bag (a bucket with drawstrings), she approached factories and ended up finding the right one. In London, success was immediate. Anya Hindmarch designed a first collection she offered to department stores. Barney's, Harrod's and Bergdorf Goodman, among others, agreed to sell her creations: the handbag brand was born. Over time, the label found its place on the high-end fashion bag market. The brand became globally renowned in spring 2015, when the designer launched her first sticker collection: small cartoon leather patches to stick on her creations. Fun and playful, they delighted fashion designers as well as new and regular customers.

 

Anya Hindmarch, who was born and raised in England, found her vocation in fashion design in Italy. At 18, she moved to Florence to learn Italian. However, she returned to London with a handbag and artisans contacts. With her husband, James Seymour, financial director of the company, Anya Hindmarch still manages the brand and designs its collections. She is renowned for her creativity and talent, but also for the environmental projects that she leads. In 2007, she created the "I'm not a plastic bag": a tote bag sold £ 5, intended to stop plastic bag consumption. The designer was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2017 and was awarded several British Fashion Awards in 2001 and 2007.
