In 1947, Rose Repetto created for her son Roland Petit, a young dancer, his first shoes. A good seamstress, she creates revolutionary tips to leather soles stitched on the back. A shoe that came to give great comfort to dancers. In 1959, Rose Repetto opened her first boutique at 22 rue de la Paix in Paris and attracted many dancers such as Maurice Béjart, Rudolf Nureyev, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Carolyn Carlson, the Kirov or the Folies Bergeres troops. In 1967, the production expanded into Dordogne where ballerinas are still born. In 1999, Jean-Marc Gaucher took over the reins of the Repetto fashion house with the ambition to infuse new dynamism. Repetto worked with Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto in 2002 and Comme des Garçons in 2004. Repetto is now positioned in the manufacture of shoes and became a staple of the urban chic ballerina.
