The Christian Lacroix label was founded in 1987. The same year, the fashion designer presented his first haute couture collection, which immediately met success because of its displayed opulence, which contrasted with the trendy minimalism of the time. During the 90s, the House strongly diversified, adding men’s and accessory lines to its collections. In 2005, the LVMH group, co-founder of the brand, sold it to the Falic group. Three years later, Christian Lacroix left the label he founded. In 2010, Sacha Walckhoff took over creative direction of the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré brand.
Sacha Walckhoff was born in Switzerland in 1962 and studied fashion design in Spain from 1981 at the School of Fashion Arts and Techniques in Barcelona. Upon graduation in 1984, he began to work: first as an assistant at Jean Remy Daumas, then as Creative Director of the Dorothée Bis menswear collections. In 1992, while working at Michel Klein, he met Christian Lacroix with whom he became friends and started a professional collaboration. In 1996, he joined the Parisian House to oversee the ready-to-wear studio. In 2002, after a short period of freelance consulting, he went back to Christian Lacroix, where he worked alongside the founder designer. In 2010, following Christian Lacroix’s departure, he took over the label’s creative direction. He specifically develops men and women's ready-to-wear and accessory lines as well as decoration ranges. In parallel, since 2014, he has been involved in manufacturing of limited edition design pieces.
