For the Fall/Winter 2017-18 season, the Yves Salomon brand continues to diversify, as started a few years ago. Among traditional fur coats, the brand offers more hybrid pieces, such as parkas and cashmere coats that will appeal to women who like quality designs but want to avoid leather. The more discreet fashionistas will also like Yves Salomon’s small accessories: gloves, hats and scarves that will keep them warm this winter.

 

The label’s story started in the early twentieth century, when Gregory Salomon, exiled to Siberia, became passionate about fur. In 1920, after he immigrated to France, the Russians appreciated him for his excellence and were impressed by his talent as a visionary. The brand then started meeting with success. In 1960, Gregory’s son, Boris, took command of the brand. He launched several lines that were a hit, with leopard fur, acid colors or the Fun Furs collection featuring geometric and futuristic cuts in the 70's. A major change occurred in the 1980s, when Yves Salomon, Boris’s son, quickly understood the industry’s new challenges. He launched a fur collection for Thierry Mugler, created a studio of excellence and later became a partner of Nina Ricci, Popy Moreni or Guy Paulin. The Yves Salomon line was launched at Galeries Lafayette. After difficult times due to a challenging industry, the house returned in 1997 working with Jean Paul Gauthier and Sonia Rykiel. The label now collaborates with Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Louis Vuitton.

 

Yves Salomon inherited an exceptional family patrimony and an outstanding fighting spirit. As an adventurer, like his ancestors, he explored the world and its mysteries. With him, the brand Yves Salomon combines tradition of materials and revolutionary techniques. Thanks to his innovations, fur is now lighter than fabric. He discovered many new furs and now works with about a hundred different furs. Yves Salomon created several lines, from the historic heart of the brand to a young profiled collection. His son Thomas is now progressively taking over the label’s management conveying a dynamic and innovative image.
